Details
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air custom convertible is a brand-new high-end build that was completed in 2024, spanning three years, countless hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on the chassis, parts, drivetrain and talent. The engine is a balanced and blueprinted 427ci engine, built by Texas Speed & Performance, using forged pistons, forged connecting rods, forged crankshaft and a custom-ground Texas Speed & Performance camshaft. Atop the engine sits a pair of Precision Race Components LS3 260cc cylinder heads that are fed by a Whipple superchargers intercooled 2.9-liter twin-screw supercharger, which comes together to produce 825hp at the crankshaft. The engine is completed using a Wegner Automotive front drive accessory system, along with a Sanden air-conditioning compressor to feed the Vintage Air system. The engine is built for a supercharged application and will easily handle the power on 93-octane pump gas. The engine is backed by a new Tremec T56 that was supplied by Bowler Transmissions, and the clutch is a dual disc system from McLeod Clutches. The chassis is a Roadster Shop Fast Track and features full coilover suspension by Fox, Ford 9-inch rear axle and suspension, and massive Baer/Roadster Shop 14-inch front and rear disc brakes. It rolls on Forgeline Rebel wheels, 18-inch front and 20-inch rear, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. On the front, the car is finished in a PPG paint based on Rosso Mugello from Ferrari, with some added Pearl, while the back of the car is finished in a custom PPG White Pearl. The complete custom interior is done by Miranda Built and features power front bucket seats, black leather upholstery, a custom center console with dual cupholders and cell phone charging pad, full custom stereo, Dakota Digital gauges, power windows, a Vintage Air system, all-new interior trim, painted OE-style steering wheel, custom stitching and a power convertible top. The frame-off restoration was completed by former Ridler Award-winner Customs & Hot Rods of Andice in Georgetown, TX.
