This custom 1950 Mercury was built by world-renowned supercar builder SSC North America and has undergone a restoration like no other, just completed in October 2024. It received the nickname "Side Piece" as it was completed in the builder's spare time between supercar projects, having invested over 3,000-man hours in the "by hand, by scratch" build. It is powered by a 600hp LS V8 engine fully dressed with Velocity fuel management, 102mm throttle body and custom-fabricated intake horn, backed by an automatic transmission. No stranger to speed and performance, SSC North America is the hypercar company that created the Ultimate Aero, holding the "Fastest Production Car" record from 2007-2010 and the Tuatara which reclaimed the world record in 2021 with a top speed of 295 mph. The impressive performance is complimented with visual appeal, the top of this Mercury has been chopped two inches for a sleek look, while the bumpers, grille and trim have been re-chromed. This car rolls on whitewall tires with Polara chrome Bullet Spinner hubcaps, and the engine breathes out of a full stainless-steel exhaust with electronic cutouts. The in-house custom-built interior had no expense spared, using tan leather and brown accents incorporating digital control screens and a fully integrated custom audio system. The front seats feature a 6-way electronic adjust, it is equipped with CVF air conditioning, and the RideTech air ride system is controlled by a touchscreen built into the console and Dakota Digital gauges are built into the dash.
