Details

Holding true to the rules of gifting on a golden anniversary, this 1962 Lincoln Continental custom convertible is presented in White Gold Metallic paint and is aptly called 'Gold Dust.' Gold Dust is an excellent example of tastefully combining old styling and new technology. Built by Weld County Kustomz of Apache Junction, AZ, this fully custom 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible is housing a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 crate engine paired with a Ford 4R70W 4-speed overdrive automatic

transmission. The engine was styled in the Lincoln livery and has painted covers and intake plenum to color match with the car. The engine was also fitted with a custom intake and Pro Tuning Labs headers. The engine is supported by a fully polished aluminum Watson radiator and the fuel is fed from a fully polished stainless-steel gas tank tucked up in the rear. It sounds amazing with the fully polished stainless-steel MagnaFlow exhaust system with H-pipe for low-end torque, running all the way back to the modified rear bumper notched out to accommodate the stainless-steel tips. It sits on a full Weld County Kustomz Chassis front to back with a 2000 Silverado rack & pinion power steering unit tied to GSI Fabrication tubular control arms and Wilwood Pro spindles with sealed hubs. Stopping power comes from 14-inch 6-piston Wilwood front disc brakes with 4-piston rear. Out back resides a Currie Enterprise 9-inch rear end with 3.55 gear ratio linked up with a GSI Fabrication 4-link and Watts Link. For ride and height control it's running Mittler Brothers hydraulically controlled coilover Hydroshox front and rear. To accommodate the 20x10-inch Raceline Billet Manhattan custom one-off deep-dish wheels and Pirelli tires, the rear door hinges were modified along with full custom-fabricated rear inner wheel tubs. The frame rails are housing all the polished stainless-steel hardlines running front to back, with matching bends and curves for the brake lines, hydraulic lines and fuel lines. The all-steel body is painted with Glasurit material in White Gold GN code; it retains all its factory-provided brightwork trim that Elwood Engel intended. The front bumper license plate was shaved and rechromed. The grille was completely rechromed, including the internal squares, and is not painted black. Armando's Upholstery created a beautiful and artfully tasteful interior using today's styling and modern techniques. Retracting the Mercedes Chocolate Brown convertible top is smooth and operates like new, exposing the fully customized interior. The soft brown leather is fitted to the front custom bucket seats and rear custom bucket seats, and is divided from the dash all the way through to the rear seat backs with a custom console. All this leather was adorned and fastened with a factory-style stitch pattern that carries through to the door panels as well. The interior also features new technology and styling touches throughout the cabin. From the leather seats and door panels to the moving of window switches from the doors to inside a special compartment, the interior looks at home in this custom Continental and invites a long cruise in comfort. The dash is factory wood delete with painted surfaces and the instrument panel is fitted with Dakota Digital gauges in the factory Lincoln bezels. Custom climate control vents direct the Vintage Air and appear to be stock-looking but complement the Colorado Customs steering wheel and Flaming River column. The custom sound system includes a Retrosound vintage-style Bluetooth head unit, 6 speakers from MB Quartz HiFonics and 2500 watts of amplified sound just to make sure the sound quality is perfect when cruising with the top down. Unlike original production, this car comes with all-clear glass, and not the factory green tint. This was a Barrett-Jackson Cup contender at 2021 Scottsdale, on the cover of the January 2020 issue of Hemmings Motor News and was the 2020 First Place winner at the Pomona, CA, Grand Nationals.
