The Packard Light Eight (Series 900) was an automobile model produced by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, MI only during model year 1932. The marketing objective was to add a new market segment, upper middle-class buyers for Packard during the depression. Wheelbase was 127.75 inches with a standard 320cid straight 8 engine. Because the Light Eight was 4,115 pounds, 455 pounds lighter than the Standard Eight, it became the best performer in the 1932 Packard model lineup. Today the '900'

is referred to as the 'Hot Rod Packard.' Bill Buddig of Buddig Meat Company commissioned Fran Roxas of Chicago to do a total restoration on this rare Packard. It was completed in October 1985. It was shown at the Classis Car Club of America Grans Classics on July 12, 1986, where it scored 99.5 points for a first place. It was shown again on the July 9, 1988, at Grand Classic, where it scored 99.5 and won a Senior Badge. In 2012, the restoration was freshened up as needed and shown on the lawn at Pebble Beach in August 2013. In January 2014, it was a feature car for the Arizona Concours d'Elegance. This Packard was delivered on February 28, 1933 by Berry Motor Car Company in St. Louis, MO. Its features include dual sidemounts with covers, dual sidemount mirrors, rear trunk rack with Packard trunk and fitted luggage, dual tail lamps, front fender parking lights, factory spotlight, dual horns, ride control, oil filter, heater, cigar lighter, glove box clock and outside wind wings. It is a great looking and driving car and an extremely rare Packard.
