Details

A full quarter-century before the arrival of that Model A (the 1928 successor to the Tin Lizzie Model T), this 1903 Ford Model A runabout stands as one of the very first automobiles to emerge from the Ford Motor Company's Detroit factory. Bearing serial number 300, this 4-passenger open runabout is one of 670 Ford cars built in 1903, Ford's first year of volume production. Completely restored and the winner of a Meadowbrook Concours first-place trophy, its horizontally opposed 2 cylinder engine

is mounted under the front seat and connects to a 2-speed planetary transmission with chain drive to the rear wheels. Rod actuated rear wheel band brakes predict the mechanical brake systems used by Ford through 1938. Once owned by Warner Brothers movie studios, a photo depicting actress Jane Russell sitting in this car is included. Immaculate and ready for fun touring or static display, records show that fewer than 60 first-year Ford passenger cars exist today.
