Details

This 1958 Chevrolet Impala was built in January at the Los Angeles, CA assembly plant. It was equipped with a driveline for maximum performance. Chevy's first big block, the 348, was a success. It was nicknamed the 'W Block' because of the configuration of the uniquely styled cylinder heads. It went down in history as one of their toughest and trouble-free engines. It also was the first time over 300hp was achieved, 315hp, with ultra-high compression and high lift camshaft and solid lifters to

handle the RPM. The dual point distributor and 45-amp big bearing generator provide the enhanced electrical power needed and deep grove pulleys secured the belt. The Super Turbo Thrust Tri-Power induction system ensured that plenty of fuel was available on demand. Only the close ratio super duty transmission with an 11' clutch qualifies to transfer all this power to the posi-traction rear axle. The posi-traction and the 4.11 gear combined to make the ultimate performance package. Interiors on the 1958 Impalas had many firsts. A competition style steering wheel, vehicles equipped with posi-traction were identified with an emblem on the dash, beautifully designed rear speakers built into the seat, fader switch on the dash and they were three-toned. Black, Code 807, was accented with silver and turquoise. It spent its life in the southwest, which is evident everywhere, especially in its smooth chassis and undercarriage. Los Angeles built vehicles utilized the California one-piece bumper design. The Black Onyx exterior, Code 900, is laser-straight. This car is equipped with over 25 options and accessories and has undergone a professionally correct frame-off rotisserie restoration with attention to detail in the highest degree. This classic collectible is truly a gem. From the Michael Jenkins Collection. Photo documentation of restoration and posters.
