Details

Except for the recently developed Shelby Series 1, this is the only car constructed from a blank sheet of paper by Carroll Shelby and his design team. The chassis was designed by Alan Burke and David Bruns, original body work was from the legendary Peter Brock, transmission came from the Can-Am and Indy car gearbox shop of Pete and Chris Weismann. John Fernandez, currently with the Chrysler Dodge Racing Program, oversaw the design and testing program from 1989 to 1993. The book Fast Days by Joel

Jackson explains in detail the story about the lessor known racing accomplishments of the Shelby Team in conjunction with Lee Iacocca and Chrysler Corp. Chassis #12 is one of 74 production chassis built from 1989 to 1993. Records indicate the car was originally purchased from Shelby Technologies/SCCA Enterprises in 1990 and the aluminum panels are in exceptional condition with many still having the original stickers attached. The chassis records include an original Shelby Can-Am log book, assembly manual, service bulletins and a transmission overhaul/repair manual. Seller will provide these manuals in digital form. The finish is brilliant red and not without a few cosmetic racing flaws but is still suitable as a collector car or as a Shelby museum piece. A spare set of original wheels plus other miscellaneous items will be transferred with the car at sale. Shelby Can-Am race cars can be found at various tracks around the USA and the world. This Shelby Can-Am race car is sold on a Bill of Sale and has no title or formal registration. It is intended to be operated only by qualified and properly trained drivers. The seller certifies the engine is zero time since major overhaul in March 2013 (receipts included) and the driveline is in good operating condition. A new ATL fuel cell was installed in December 2012. Chassis #12 spare matching red nose, Canopy 10x15, set of 4 wheels, quick jack and body stands. **NOT STREET LEGAL, SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY**
