Description
The final allocation slot of the 500 Senna. It was sold by McLaren at a London auction in 2017 to benefit the Instituto Ayrton Senna charity, raising $2.67 million USD. The winning bidder was aviation innovator and entrepreneur Joe Clark of Seattle, WA. An avid collector of both cars and aircraft, Joe passed away in March 2020. He 'lived his life at full throttle all the time' according to his longtime friend Bruce McCaw and was incredibly generous, raising funds for countless charities during his life. The McLaren Senna is the most track-focused road car McLaren has built, setting the fastest lap times of any McLaren road car to date. It was inspired by one of McLaren's greatest racing drivers, Ayrton Senna, and is dedicated to allowing the driver to be the best he or she can possibly be. Powered by a 4.0-liter twin electrically actuated twin scroll turbocharged dry-sump V8 engine, making 789 hp and 590 ft/lbs of torque mated to a 7-speed seamless shift gearbox. Weighing in at only 2,897 pounds with a full tank of fuel, the Senna is capable of 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph. Like the McLaren P1, the Senna features an open differential with brake steer technology, previously developed for and banned by Formula 1. It slows the inside rear wheel when cornering to achieve some of the best handling of any road car built today. Clark ordered this Senna in Liquid Silver with lots of gloss-coated exposed carbon fiber, red accents and a completely bespoke interior. The extensive list of factory options totals $200,000 and includes parking sensors, rear camera, climate control, fire extinguisher, branded floor mats, regular size seats, carbon black Alcantara sill panels, car cover, ultra-lightweight 9-spoke wheels, Dark Stealth exhaust heat shield, McLaren Telemetry app, Bowers & Wilkins 7-speaker surround sound, body-color service panel, 24-carat gold heat shield, gloss-finish roof scoop, aero blades and all exterior carbon fiber, as well as Gorilla Glass door panels, 6-point harness in red, red center-lock nuts, bespoke interior, key shells and dedication plate. With 902 actual miles on the odometer, this McLaren Senna was delivered to McLaren Beverly Hills and was stored in Palm Springs, CA. It is the final customer order of the 500 total Sennas built by McLaren and is likely the only one ordered to this exact bespoke specification.
