Details
This is the only car designed, engineered and built from the ground up by Carroll Shelby. A luxury sports car roadster, this is #240 of only 249 handmade and produced at the Shelby factory in Nevada in 1999. The engine is derived from the Indy car aluminum Aurora Northstar V8 used by the Indy racing league in the early 2000s. It is a DOHC 4.0-liter sequential fuel-injected aluminum block and aluminum-headed V8 located aft of the front inboard suspension. For insurance purposes, and to meet the
federal government's safety mandates, the engine was underrated at 320hp, but is reputed to produce over 400hp. The ZF 6-speed transmission is located forward of the rear suspension. The aft positioning of the engine and forward positioning of the transaxle result in a mid-engine designed for neutral handling. The frame is high-strength extruded T6 aluminum, with an all carbon-fiber body. This low-weight mid-engine design produces a car weighing a mere 2,800 lbs. with a 50/50 weight distribution. The race-car-derived suspension is an inboard pushrod rocker-arm design with adjustable coilover springs and shocks. Brakes are huge power-assisted disc fore and aft, steering is power rack & pinion. It features a 100% stainless-steel exhaust built by Borla to Shelby's specs. This car does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph. It's also equipped with hideaway convertible soft-top, leather seats with the Carroll Shelby logo, factory air, tilt wheel, power windows, AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo. The glove box was personally signed by Carroll Shelby. Always garaged, it has just over 5,600 actual miles.
