Details
The 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was the first car to pace the Indianapolis 500 race in stock form requiring no modifications other than safety lights. It was also the fastest U.S. production car built in 1989. It even ranks as one of the fastest Trans Ams ever built. There were 1,555 produced, and this is #1,221 in the production sequence. This specific car is in good condition, having always been stored in a climate-controlled environment, and has 2,128 original miles (the title reads
mileage exempt). It’s powered by its factory 3.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine backed by its factory heavy-duty automatic transmission with factory upgraded shift control. It has the original Lexan T-Tops, original plug wires, factory 1LE package with larger brakes and upgraded handling components, and special baffled fuel tank designed for racing applications. It is an original car with leather interior. CARFAX shows General Motors manufacturer safety recall issued on 06/01/1990: Seatbelt buckles.
