Details

This El Camino is verified as a correct and original Royal Knight Edition by the Z16 RPO code on the Build Sheet. In fact, this Royal Knight comes with two factory original Build Sheets, the original owner's manual, and the warranty book that shows the original owners name and the original dealership that sold this vehicle. It was sold new on February 22, 1979, by Brown and Brown Chevrolet in Mesa, AZ. This fact is particularly important since this El Camino was sold new in a western state and has never had to endure harsh winters or salty roads. That is one of the reasons why the car is in such excellent condition today and why it has remained rust-free. Being only one of 2,815 Royal Knight Editions produced in 1979 this El Camino is very rare. The Royal Knight was available in ten paint colors and three tri-tone decal packages, but none are as desirable as the black with gold decals and stripes. The black paint over Camel Tan cloth with gold-orange-brown accents is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag as well as the Build Sheet. The 350ci Chevy V8 provides the power for this Royal Knight, which has an automatic transmission. It starts right away every time, runs well, and drives great. This El Camino is in great mechanical condition. It has had one repaint in the correct black over the factory original rust-free body panels. All-new, correct decals were applied after the repaint. It is completely rust-free and totally solid. The frame is clean and the lower quarters and rockers are all original sheet metal with no body filler or Bondo. The Camel Tan interior, carpet and seats in this El Camino look fantastic. The dash is in nice shape with no fading and the door panels look excellent. The jack, handle, base, and spare tire are stowed correctly behind the passenger seat. Overall, this 1979 Royal Knight El Camino is in excellent condition.
