Description
This striking 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 was restored to high show-quality standards using mostly NOS parts and is original with matching-numbers throughout. This is one of only 3,100 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 models produced in 1970. This authentic example was judged at the highest level by the Oldsmobile Club of America three times, scoring 995, 996 and 998. It was awarded First Place and Best of Class at the OCA Nationals. It was also awarded Best in Class at the Louisville Concours D'Elegance and Gold Concours Winner at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. All the awards are documented with judging sheets or the event magazines. As the original VIN Tag and Trim Tag indicate, this car was built on the third week of June in Lansing, MI, and left the factory with a Sherwood Green exterior and a green interior. As the three original Broadcast Sheets (which are included) indicate, the actual build date was June 17, and it was equipped with the W-30 option. From the information gathered, the car was ordered with the following options: Sport mirrors, tinted glass, hood-lock package, SSII wheels, Sport steering wheel, interior light package (including trunk light), stereo AM/FM radio, 8-track, rear defogger, dual-gate with console, interior floor mats front and rear, 455 W-30 Ram Air package, OW automatic transmission, heavy-duty cooling system, power steering and power disc brakes. This vehicle was purchased on June 13, 1997, by Robert Traina of Crown Point, IN. This information is documented with a copy of a title, which is included. This car was found in Oregon with 50,000 miles. Traina collaborated with his son Robert Jr. to perform a complete body-off restoration. Their vision was to build the most authentic Oldsmobile 442 W-30 possible. They spent the next 7 years searching for NOS parts and meticulously restoring the car using a 1970 factory assembly manual. Over 200 photos of the NOS parts used and the entire restoration process are included. Upon completion of restoration in 2004, they drove the car a total of 460 miles. It was purchased on November 26, 2005, by Dennis Sullivan, of Lebanon, OH. This information is documented with an eBay listing, Bill of Sale, official check and title, which are all included. Sullivan spent the next 5 years showing the car at various events, where it achieved many prestigious awards. The exterior of this car is absolutely spectacular. It retains all original GM sheet metal and the body is extremely straight with precise gap lines. It was refinished in its original color of Sherwood Green, which is decorated with white stripes. The high show-quality paint was recently detailed to brilliant appearance. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced with NOS parts. The car sits on NOS 14-inch gray steel wheels with G70-14 Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. The interior of this car complements the exterior perfectly. All of the green upholstery is original, with exception of the front bucket seats, which were recovered with original Green Madrid grain vinyl. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced with NOS parts. The trunk compartment was accurately restored and includes an original factory spare. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with mostly NOS parts. It's powered by the original matching-numbers 455 V8 engine with original F-heads. The engine was completely rebuilt with NOS parts, including a 308 camshaft. The engine breathes through a NOS dual-exhaust system. The engine is coupled to the original matching-numbers OW automatic transmission, which was completely rebuilt. The power is transferred to the 12-bolt rear end with W-27 cover and NOS 3.91 gears. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many NOS parts. This car was recently serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that's included.
