Details

This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is one of 2,399 total built and powered by its original matching-numbers 6-barrel 340/290hp V8 engine paired to its original matching-numbers 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission and 3.55 Sure-Grip rear end. The 340ci engine could accelerate the 'Cuda from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds, 0-100 miles per hour in 14.4 seconds and race a quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds at 100 miles per hour. It was designed with modest engine racers in mind, built to compete on twisting road courses and what Plymouth built was a street rod. SCCA homologation requirements dictated that a manufacturer build a minimum of 2,500 street versions in order to compete. The single-production-year Dodge Challenger met the homologation requirements, all during a five-week period between March and April 1970. The TA was different from the regular Challenger in many ways. The hood is made of lightweight fiberglass. What really set this hood apart from all other cars is the hood scoop, functional and drawing in the fresh air. For spoilers, it had front 'eyebrow' spoilers and a rear 'duck tail.' Unlike a standard Challenger, the exhaust came out the sides near the back wheels. Includes a formal Elite Level Wise Inspection report and has been recorded in the MMC Detroit Global Vehicle Registry. From the Lindley Collection.
