This gorgeous 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle 454 4-speed custom convertible is simply awesome. The 1970 Chevelle SS 454/450hp LS6 was the kingpin back in the day and the definition of an American muscle car. Although this car wasn't born an LS6, it shares some of the same characteristics and more. This car has been completely restored to show-quality standards from top to bottom. As the VIN number and trim tag indicate, this car was built on the first week of February in Van Nuys, CA, as a 1970
Chevrolet Malibu V8 2-door convertible. It left the factory with a Cranberry Red exterior, black convertible top and a black interior with bucket seats. The frame-off rotisserie restoration was completed in 2020 and it has less than 400 miles since completion. During the restoration most of the sheet metal was replaced new. The body is very straight, and the panels align nicely. It's equipped with a functioning cowl-induction hood that has hood pins. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. The car was finished in its original color of Cranberry Red, which is a very desirable and beautiful color. The red paint is complemented by black racing stripes, which are buried under the clear coat. The paint was recently treated to Gtechniq Platinum ceramic coating, and the front glass, wheels and interior were also treated. It's equipped with new power convertible frame and top that operates very smoothly. All of the glass was replaced with new lightly tinted glass, which is crystal clear. Everything on the exterior has been replaced. The car sits on new 14-inch SS-style wheels and BFGoodrich Radial T/A 245/60/14 tires. The black standard vinyl interior of this car is also absolutely gorgeous. The interior was restored in its original color of black, which looks extremely crisp because it's all new. Everything in the interior was literally ordered out of a catalog and added during the restoration. It has an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on the dash and new black-carpeted floor mats with the word 'Chevelle' embroidered in red. Everything in the interior, with the exception of the AM radio, is in working order. The trunk compartment was completely restored. It has a factory-style trunk mat, full spare with cover and a new set of jack tools. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with all new parts. The car is powered by a GM 454ci V8 engine with a 3963512 casting number and aluminum cylinder heads. The GM factory LS6 engine had a 512 casting number. This engine has been rebuilt and has an estimated 450hp. The engine was dressed in the factory-style #3963569 intake, chrome valve covers and black air cleaner. A new Holley Street Brawler 750 cfm carburetor provides reliability. It also has an upgraded ignition system for quicker starting. This engine has been tuned and runs excellent. The engine is cooled by the correct-style radiator, which works great. The engine breathes through Sanderson headers and a 2.5-inch Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds mean. The engine is coupled to a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission with a 3925661 casting number. The M22 is the beefy 4-speed that GM offered. The transmission was rebuilt and shifts very nicely through the gears with the Hurst shifter. It's equipped with a new Ram HDX clutch for better performance. The power is transferred through the 12-bolt posi-traction rear end with new Eaton Truetrac center section and 3.42 gears. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with all new parts. It is nice enough to display with mirrors at a car show. Everything has been restored or replaced, such as fuel tank, fuel lines, power steering system, power braking system with front disc brakes and suspension system with factory-style sway bars. This vehicle has been recently serviced and detailed, including Gtechniq Platinum ceramic coating, which is all documented with an invoice that is included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
