Details
This custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a GM Performance Parts 50th Anniversary RPO ZL1 all-aluminum 427ci 8-cylinder engine paired with a TREMEC TKO600 5-speed manual transmission and backed by a 12-bolt limited-slip rear differential. Engine #411 of 427 produced is a commemoration of the original RPO ZL1 427 V8 that was installed in special-order COPO Camaros back in 1969. This factory-prepared engine with a billet aluminum pulley set generates 525hp and includes all the supporting factory paperwork to substantiate the authenticity of this powerplant, as well as the 411 valve covers. An aluminum radiator with dual cooling fans helps keep it cool. The undercarriage of this car has been completely restored and features new fuel and brake lines, suspension bushings and related steering components. Features include custom Pro-Touring Hotchkis suspension with front and rear stabilizer/anti-roll bars, power steering and power brakes (front disc and rear drum). The ignition was upgraded to a GM HEI that lights the air-fuel mixture from a Holley double-pumper carburetor. The stainless-steel headers are connected to a dual exhaust featuring electric cutouts that, with the flip of a switch, change the exhaust system to open headers. This is a nut-and-bolt frame-off restoration with approximately 950 since the build was completed. The bodywork was professionally done and well-prepped before the Daytona Yellow (paint code 76) was applied, along with black stripes, Super Sport emblems and special 427 badges. The original Data Tag is attached. The period-correct front-air dam, rear-deck spoiler and SS hood with chrome louvers were also added. The front bumper is painted the body color and features RS electric override hideaway headlights. The rear bumper chrome and related body stainless molding have all been restored. The trunk space has been restored to factory condition with the correct houndstooth floor mat. The interior features a power tilt steering column, Hurst shifter, RS/SS rosewood steering wheel and console, with optional houndstooth seat upholstery and factory-correct GM/Chevrolet floor mats with the Bowtie emblem. The factory gauges feature the AC Delco 120-mph speedometer and tachometer, center dash-mounted clock and center console gauges. The stereo was upgraded to an Alpine AM/FM/CD player with 45 watts per channel that powers the front kick-panel-location speakers and rear-package-tray 6x9 speakers. This car is riding on 15-inch steel wheels painted the body color and capped with the COPO-correct poverty hubcaps wrapped in new Goodyear Polyglas GT tires.
