In 1968 the Shelby GT500 came with a 428ci Police Interceptor V8 engine and featured Grand Touring character with uniquely aggressive styling and the muscle to back it all up. The even more-potent 'Cobra Jet' version of the 428, beefed up from Ford's vast parts inventory, powered the top-level GT500KR, with the 'KR' suffix denoting 'King of the Road.' Featuring one-year-only styling, the 1968-only GT500KR remains one of the most collectible Mustangs. Carrying Shelby serial #3873 and documented in the SAAC Registry, this 1968 Shelby GT500KR is one of just 518 convertibles built. Part of a private collection prior to being acquired for the Mile High Collection in 2015, this Highland Green over Saddle 1968 Shelby GT500KR convertible continues to benefit from a ground-up restoration. Retaining the matching-numbers 428ci Cobra Jet V8 engine, features include a newer convertible top, a floor-shifted C6 automatic transmission and Shelby 10-spoke wheels. Correct restoration highlights include rarely seen factory emissions equipment, a Red Oxide undercarriage finish and the highly detailed engine bay. Comes with a Deluxe Marti Report.
