Description

This 1968 Dodge Charger show car has been professionally frame-off restored and custom-built with modern technology. It first debuted at SEMA and has less than 500 miles since completion. The current owner has had this car for many years and drove it in high school. From concept to reality, the car took over 14 years to design, engineer and build at cost upwards of $300,000. This information - including cost data, work orders, parts lists and invoices - is contained in two 5-inch binders. Photographs of the build process have all been digitized. It is powered by a fuel-injected 472ci HEMI crate engine from Mopar Performance with nitrous and features Victor Pro components. The engine is backed by a March Performance Futura series polished billet serpentine system, Power Master 200-amp Chrysler HEMI chrome alternator, and a custom-formed and polished oil pan that allows clearance for the vehicle to sit mere inches off the ground when the airbags are fully deflated. The automatic transmission is a 727 with SKII 4-speed 2500-stall converter and overdrive connected to a Dana 60 posi-traction rear end, custom color powder-coated to match the custom frame. Custom Morrison chassis designed. Other customizations include a hand-designed and engineered 25-gallon fuel tank polished to a mirror finish, a custom NASCAR-style ceramic-coated rectangular exhaust system, hand-forged and tucked in. Fitted with MagnaFlow Performance exhaust flat-designed stainless-steel mufflers, 13-inch 6-piston big brake disc kit, polished calipers, and custom-painted and powder-coated assemblies. It rides on Asanti spiked series wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich G-Force Flame series tires, tubbed to accommodate the larger rear wheels. It sits on Heidts Superride II front-end suspension, control arms and hardware, with a chrome stabilizer bar and polished stainless tie rod ends. Air Ride Technologies Ride Pro with Big Red Max. Custom-built sound system with Thunder speakers, located in the car rear seat mount, doors and trunk lid. The sound system, powered by three Thunder amplifiers, is professionally installed in the trunk. It is equipped with a CD/DVD connected to five-color LCD monitors. The interior includes air conditioning and heating from Vintage Air Super Gen II system, Louver Venturi 2.5 vents and chrome drier with trinary switch. Features a navigation display and Pioneer stereo video touchscreen display with Python GPS built into the center console. Has full visual and audio feedback for navigation. It also features Dakota Digital Odyssey series gauges with vacuum florescent readout with chrome bezels. It is also equipped with a Visual Performance display incorporated into the digital stereo LCD monitor, which provides a live visual gauge readout of compass, speed and RPM. This vehicle's interior is completely hand-designed with genuine leather supported by fiberglass, metal and laser-cut foam. Features new ultra-fiber, high-wear black carpet with core-dense underlay and sound-reduction padding. The alarm system is a Python Responder system using five-channel 2-way. Some additional features include door poppers, Specialty power electric windows and dual wiper drive kit with two speeds. The original headlight cover actuators are still in place but modified with a custom-made mechanical activation system using the original pneumatic pumps. The exterior is finished in BASF paint; hand-shaded and mixed silver metallic with a professionally applied Oxblood Red highlight rear stripe. Five coats of clear coat were added for depth and resilience. The exterior features a modified hood with an air scoop for engine airflow and improved visual appearance, shaved door handles and side mirrors, and shortened and tucked bumpers. All bodywork was completed using the existing and original fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid and original body base.

Customized 1968 HEMI Dodge Charger built for SEMA. Powered by a fuel-injected 472ci HEMI crate engine and 727 automatic transmission with overdrive. Air-ride suspension, custom interior. Less than 500 miles since completion.
