Details
This 1966 Ford Mustang custom fastback, powered by a 348ci stroker V8 engine and a manual 4-speed transmission, has undergone two restorations in its lifetime by the previous owner of 32 years — one cosmetic and one for performance modification to participate in vintage open track events. Some of the specifics include 63B body style in Vintage Burgundy with Parchment Pony interior and full-length console. Features 2-speed wipers, heater delete and tinted SunX glass. The performance engine build consists of C8ME casting, high nickel nodular iron 302ci block with large, HiPo-style main bearing caps with .030 over custom machining for rotating assembly, magna-fluxed, de-burred and parallel deck, Canton main cap stud girdle, Boss 302 windage tray, 347 Stroker Eagle rotating assembly with forged 4340 steel crank, forged 4340 H-beam rods, free-floating Ross forged flat top pistons with spiral locks. A full rotating assembly dynamically balaces to 8,000 rpm with an ATI SFI balancer. It also features a blueprinted Melling high-volume oil pump with a heavy-duty pump drive shaft, ARP head studs, AFR 185 Outlaw Street/Strip #1388 aluminum heads, with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust, CNC ported, 58cc chambers, giving 11.0:1 static compression, AFR 7/16-inch head studs and spring upgrade for high lift cams, Comp Cams Pro Magnum steel full roller rockers, ARP Perma-Loc rocker arm adjusters, dual profile, Crane retro-fit roller camshaft with .584/.565, 282 degrees duration, 110-degree lobe separation, capable of 7500 RPM, Cloyes double roller timing chain set, and stock NOS Ford timing chain cover. The engine is connected to the transmission using a C5AA flywheel, Centerforce diaphragm clutch and pressure plate, and roller pilot bearing enclosed in a Lakewood explosion-proof bell housing and block plate assembly. The car runs and drives best on 100 octane gasoline, and the transmission shifter could use an adjustment as the gear selection is not perfectly smooth as it should be. Currently, the exhaust is open with the headers out and directly into side pipes and could be fitted with mufflers and dual exhaust.
