Details
This 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible Resto-Mod underwent a full 4-year no-expense-spared build and restoration. Under the hood is a new fuel-injected 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine rated at 430hp. The engine is topped with a Holley Ultra Lo-Ram EFI intake manifold that has less than 500 test miles, paired with a 4-speed 4L65E automatic transmission and Holley serpentine accessory drive. The rear end has been replaced with a Dana 35 axle with 3.73 gears. The gearbox was sent to ABS brakes in Orange, CA, for a complete rebuild. Stopping power is provided by a hydroboost brake system connected to a fully machined billet aluminum master cylinder from Baer with disc brakes on all four corners. The car sits on a set of Isotope 20-inch Kendall chrome wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes 245/40/20 tires with a 1.25-inch whitewall. The custom exhaust is composed of Varex mufflers with built-in electric cutout valves that can be controlled by a smartphone app. The gas tank has been replaced with an aluminum tank complete with Aeromotive intake pump along with new fuel lines. The radiator has been upgraded to an aluminum radiator. Inside the car, the custom bucket seats with integrated shoulder seat belts are upholstered in Nappa Italian leather. The dash is adorned by Dakota Digital black gauges with white LED lighting. Air conditioning is provided by Vintage Air's Magnum IV climate-control system. Custom door panels with custom chrome trim and metal speaker grilles were made to house JL Audio 6.5-inch speakers in all four doors. An audio control DSP amplifier provided power to the speakers and the JL Audio subwoofer. The brains for the audio system comes from a Retrosound Bluetooth radio. The entire floorboard of the car was sealed with POR15 and then sound-deadened from front to back and layered with foam under the synthetic black wool carpet. Additionally, the window motors were replaced with modern Dorman window motors. Power door lock actuators have been added and lock/unlock with a remote key fob. During the build process, the car was taken down to bare metal (all documented) to replace rust spots with new sheet metal. The factory 'pillowing' effect was removed from the edges of the doors to achieve a straight appearance along the entire slab side. The doors were removed in order to shoot the jams. The original rusted-out decklid was replaced with a metal reinforced composite decklid manufactured by Christian Paul Customs, which eliminates any future rust. Finally, the car was sprayed with a Tesla Pearl White, while the front suspension was removed and the control arms were powder-coated. The tie rods, bushings and center link were replaced. Metal trim has been chromed and polished. The convertible top itself has been reupholstered with a black Robbins Haartz Stayfast black canvas convertible top. The convertible top pump (John Cashman), the four Rams and all hoses have been replaced with brand-new parts.
