Description

Summary

Hard to find and desirable factory 23-window Deluxe Samba with a comprehensive restoration in 2017. Powered by a rebuilt 1600cc 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.

Details

The early Volkswagen microbuses are considered some of the greatest pieces of Volkswagen history. A recipient of a comprehensive restoration in 2017, this Volkswagen is powered by a rebuilt 1600cc engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The paint and bodywork performed during the refurbishment is completed in its Trim-Tag-matching correct Turquoise Green. Further factory trim tag decoding reveals an assembly date of April 27, 1961, code 375 for North American equipment, including six

pop-out safari windows, code 139 for sealed-beam headlights and red tail lenses; code PA, which represents export to Panama; code 225, indicating right-side cargo doors, sunroof, left-hand drive and full middle seat. Retractable canvas top spans nearly the entire length of the bus. Additional exterior elements include dual chrome outside mirrors, painted bumpers with overrider bars and rub rails, chrome handles, sealed beam headlights and door vent windows. The entire inside of the bus is in magnificent, restored condition as well. The turquoise green vinyl upholstered bench seats with white piping accents are in mint condition. The no-frills dashboard features a large center-mounted speedometer dial, fuel gauge and white painted steering wheel. In the rear of the Volkswagen is the storage compartment area that is carpeted and includes chrome window railings for securing cargo safely. Other highlights on this 1961 Samba include power brakes, two-tone steel wheels, whitewall tires, hubcaps, seat belts, and full-size spare tire.
