Original vintage parts were used wherever possible for this Resto-Mod Corvette's build along with some late-model Corvette components. This car is suitable for daily driving with great handling, braking and reliable performance, while retaining the classic appearance of the C1 Corvette. The build began with a desire to use a 1959 Corvette that was not practical to restore for NCRS judging, so a donor car was located. It was missing the front part of the body as well as many of the component and
body pieces that the builders planned to replace anyway. It did include doors, trunk lid, hood and convertible storage cover. A one-piece front body clip was purchased from Corvette Images along with rocker panels, package tray and a spare tire filler panel. After an extensive search, a 5.7-liter V8 LS6 Corvette engine was located and installed. An Art Morrison (AME) GT-Sport chassis was ordered for the C1 body, which uses the C6/C7 aluminum front suspension, power rack & pinion steering, triangulated 4-link rear suspension, 9-inch Strange housing with 31-spline axles and stainless CNC bent brake lines. A set of Billet Specialties GTO 7x17 wheels were selected because of their likeness to late-model Z06 wheels. The wheel and tire sizes are the maximum allowed without modifying the convertible top storage area, which would prevent the installation of an original top. The transmission is a TREMEC TKO 600 5-speed manual that sends power through a Strange differential with 4.11 gears, posi-traction and an aluminum driveshaft. The disc brakes include C5 calipers on the front and C5/C6 calipers on the rear. The interior is Al Knoch and features a set of AOK seats in a '59 vinyl pattern and adjustable back cushions. The new RTX analog gauges from Dakota Digital were installed and function correctly. Additionally, a lot of work and painstaking detail went into installing the custom exhaust system, which is made with mandrel bent stainless tubing and exits through the bumpers just like the original. **SOLD AS A PAIR WITH LOT #1419.1**
