Details
In 1955, this Packard 400 sold new in Los Angeles for $3,950 to a Santa Barbara resident and resided there and in Oxnard, CA, until 1996. Being a California car, it had never experienced any rust and was an excellent candidate for restoration. The complete professional highly detailed cosmetic and mechanical restoration began in 1998 and was finished in April 2000. Shortly after completion, it was a National Award-winner at the 35th Annual Packard Automobile Classics show in June 2000. 1955 was the first year for the Packard Torsion Level Ride, a self-leveling torsion bar suspension for an unsurpassed driving experience. The 400 moniker invoked New York's 'social four hundred' families. This amazing piece of luxury and technology is optioned with power steering, power seats and power windows. 1955 is a highly regarded year for Packard enthusiasts, and this example is certainly very nice.
