Details

Known as 'Glossy,' this 1951 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window custom pickup is equipped with a LM7 V8 engine, 4L60 automatic transmission and modified chassis. As the original VIN number indicates, this example was originally built in December at the St. Louis, MO, factory as a 3100 model. It was built by Rob and Kieran Hemminger of Katy, TX. This father and son team started the build in 2017 and finished it in 2019, when it debuted at Houston Autorama. Since completion it's been driven 845 miles.

Everything on this truck was restored or replaced to high show-quality standards. It retains all of its original sheet metal, with exception of the floors, firewall, front fenders and bed sides. The body is extremely straight with excellent panel fitment. It was refinished in a custom color referenced as Midnight Blue Pearl, which is electric. The show-quality paint looks wet, hence the nick name 'Glossy.' All five windows were replaced with new tinted glass. A custom-made piece was added under the large chrome front grille to fill the gap, and the front bumper was tucked. A custom-made piece was added to the rear so the bumper could be higher and tucked. It's equipped with United Pacific LED headlights with daytime running lights and LED taillights. The truck has great stance on Coy C5 polished forged 18- and 20-inch wheels with Hankook Ventus tires. The bed pockets were filled, smoothed and dressed with stainless Allen screws. It was outfitted with new dark wood floors and brushed aluminum slats. It's equipped with a Legens fuel filler concealment kit, which electronically lifts one of the wood pieces to access the fuel tank. The tailgate chains were covered with brown leather to prevent scratching. The interior dash was slightly modified by filling in the original radio location and a custom panel was added to the lower section. The cabin was painted body color to match the exterior. The headliner, sun visors, kick panels, door panels, arm rests and bench seat were upholstered with two-tone brown leather. Some interior custom features include a Guard Dog Keyless Go system with push-button start, Chevrolet Bowtie engraved door sill plates, Ididit polished tilt steering column with Lokar shifter, Billet Specialties Interceptor steering with burl walnut wrap, Dakota Digital VHX gauges, a Vintage Air system, Infinity Bluetooth receiver, Infinity amplifier, Alpine speakers and Lokar emergency brake handle. The Ron Francis wiring and additional wiring was meticulously placed neatly under the seat with labels for easy access. The painted engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were fabricated. The truck is powered by a GM LS based LM7 5.3-liter Vortec 5300 V8 engine, which runs excellent. The engine is setup with a Brian Tooley cam, Velocity brushed intake, polished intake tube, Chevrolet orange-finned valve covers and TSP pulley system. The engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator with electric fan and billet overfill canister. The engine breathes through Sanderson ceramic headers and a stainless dual-exhaust system with Pypes Performance mufflers with electronic cutouts. The engine is coupled to a 4L60 automatic transmission with a Circle D torque converter. The power is transferred to the 8.2-inch Eaton posi-traction rear end. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. The original chassis was boxed front and rear for additional strength. The Optima Red Top battery was added to the chassis, and it was outfitted with a stainless fuel tank. It has a complete TCI front and rear suspension system. Some of the components include power rack & pinion steering, upper and lower control arms, 4-link and RideTech coilover shocks. It has Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with red calipers. This truck has been completely serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that's included. This is the first time it's been marketed for sale. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
