Details

This is a 1942 Ford WWII Jeep. By late 1941, it became clear that Willys-Overland could not keep up with production demand from the war effort, therefore Ford was contracted to build Jeeps as well using Willys blueprints, drawings, specifications and patents, including the Willys engine. The Ford Jeep was designated GPW, with the 'W' referring to the Willys licensed design and engine. This example, with its matching Bantam MBT trailer, has recently undergone a high-quality frame-off restoration. According to the serial number, this Jeep was delivered to the Army September 3, 1942. All original and OEM parts were used during its restoration, including Ford 'script F' parts where appropriate. The engine is a correct L134 134.2ci 4-cylinder 'Go Devil,' but it is a Willys engine, not Ford. The Jeep runs well, and the engine and 3-speed manual transmission have been professionally rebuilt. All gauges are new and working, and all electrical components are functional and connected with an all-new and correct wiring harness. The matching Bantam MBT trailer, acquired in a U.S. military surplus sale from a base in Japan, is not as clean as the Jeep but still nicely restored, with the exception of the bed, which has been painted but small dents not removed. **SOLD AS A PAIR WITH LOT #542.1** **SOLD ON BONDED TITLE** **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
