Details
In 1979, the current owner attended the McCleod Auction in Tacoma, WA. As he walked through the preview of cars to be auctioned, he found this 1940 Mercury convertible. It had beautiful new dark blue lacquer paint, original leather interior, dual exhaust, skirts and slightly lowered stance. Unfortunately, it sold for more than he could pay. Disappointed, he placed his card with a note in the glove box, 26 years later, in the summer of 2005, he received a telephone call from a man who said he owned a 1940 Mercury convertible that had his card in the glove box. It has been freshened and driven. The Columbia 2-speed was recently rebuilt. Due to being stored in heated garages since 1979, the car remains in outstanding condition and is ready for the new owner.
