Details
This 1938 Ford 81A Deluxe Body Club 2-Door coupe is powered by a supercharged 383ci V8 engine under the hood with a double 600 Holley carburetor, Sportsman rods and Dart II Sportsman heads, Sanderson ceramic-coated headers, an MSD ignition and backed by a Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a TCI converter. It has a Mustang II front end with air-ride suspension, a Lincoln Versailles rear with 3.00 gears, four-wheel disc brakes and Vintage Air. The dash is finished in the same paint and the VDO gauges mounted on a simple stainless plate; the chrome floor shifter and the tilt steering column with Banjo steering wheel complete the look. The polished Weiand 6:71 supercharger completes the look of the show-quality engine compartment, and all the power is handled nicely with a full air-ride suspension with a four-link rear setup and a Mustang II front suspension with Flaming River rack & pinion steering. The car sits on 14-inch Torq Thrust II wheels with BFGoodrich radial tires. Details of the build were featured in the August 2006 Street Rod Builder magazine spread.
