Details
This Cord Sportsman re-creation was professionally built in the early 1990s. This cabriolet was built to exacting standards using molds to make fiberglass body components. Every component was crafted to original standards both in visual accuracy and scale. There are several original parts used in the making of this car and other parts fabricated to the specifications of the originals. The original components that adorn this car include the front and rear bumpers, hubcaps, louvered stainless trim, the original Cord emblems, door handles, window cranks, headlight cranks, dash defogger ducts, rearview mirror, door sill plates, deck and trunk hinges, as well as the rear stone guards. The exterior is virtually indistinguishable from the original supercharged Sportsman. All of the chrome bits and design cues are there, including the trademark supercharged engine side pipes. The car is entirely fiberglass and presented in correct Cord Cadet Gray with a Geneva Blue leather interior. It has the exacting height, dimensions, wheelbase and stance expected of a supercharged Sportsman. No expense was spared in the production of this car. The 350ci V8 engine starts immediately with no rocker, valve slap, or pre-ignition. The Turbo 350 automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The car tracks straight and brakes confidently. The gauges and instruments all function well. Additionally, all of the accessories work well, including the wipers, all lights and the air conditioning. The car also has fog lamps that mirror the originals. This Sportsman is equipped with an Alpine sound system and Vintage Air, both of which function correctly. The overall body is in good condition with nice gaps and panel fit. The doors open and shut with ease, and the windows crank up and down effortlessly. The trunk is clean and correctly designed with spare and jack. The convertible top is in excellent condition and is fully functional. Like the rest of the car, it replicated the top that Cord built and is virtually indistinguishable from the original in the up or down position. Finally, the underside reveals an X-frame in good condition with no accident or rust repair. The floors or solid and painted with no rust anywhere. This car has been kept in a dry environment and only enjoyed on the best of days weather-wise. It has been fully inspected by a former ACD board member within the last 60 days. **TITLED AS A 1937 RCOR**
