Details

This 1973 Ford Torino race car is an exact replica of the car Dale Earnhardt used in his very first NASCAR race of the 1978 season on Sunday, May 28, at Charlotte Motor Speedway and only the fifth race of his career. This was the race that propelled him to stardom, finishing 17th after competing for the lead for most of the race and spinning out very late to drop back mid-pack. Earnhardt's illustrious career is well-documented, and ESPN honored him in 2004 with a full-length movie about his

career - '3: The Dale Earnhardt Story.' An original Q-code Torino was sourced for use in the film and Fast Track built the car as an exact cosmetic replica to the original used in May 1978. The car is featured at several points in the film and has not been restored at all following use of it in the film. It is offered as it was used in the movie. It was subsequently sold to another well-known race car driver, Jeff Roark, who raced in the now defunct Hooters Pro Cup Series. This car comes with the original title still in Fast Track's name and assigned to Jeff Roark; however, the title is no longer an ownership document for the car. It has been heavily modified and is no longer street legal. The VIN was removed during the work being performed by Fast Track. The vehicle was then sold to a museum, where it has been on display for several years. Powered by a 351ci 8-cylinder engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission, the car does start, run and stop, but a safety inspection is strongly advised prior to tracking this car. It is a tribute to The Intimidator and a wonderful piece of racing history. It has not been touched since filming; the dirt and dust on the car has been there since the race sequence was filmed. It also comes with a poster promoting the movie and various other documents. **NOT STREET LEGAL** **SOLD ON BILL OF SALE**
