Description
Chrysler's 'E-Body' Plymouth Barracuda and Dodge Challenger of 1970-74 may have arrived late to the muscle car party, but they rank among the most sought-after American performance cars today. Boldly styled, the Barracuda/'Cuda and Challenger shared key structures with Chrysler's mid-size B-Body range, allowing them to accommodate the entire Chrysler engine line. In particular, the performance-themed 1970 'Cuda was available with the 440ci Six-Barrel engine featuring a triple-carb intake system mounting triple Holley 2-barrel carburetors. Delivering 390hp and great performance, the Six-Barrel engine package also included a maintenance-free hydraulic cam plus standard high-performance underpinnings. Interestingly, the 440 Six-Barrel 'Cuda could often beat the vaunted HEMI 'Cuda, with far lower cost and easier tuning. Finished in factory-specified FC7 High-Impact In-Violet Metallic paint over a correct black vinyl interior, this 1970 Six-Barrel Plymouth 'Cuda continues to benefit from restoration during the early 2000s. It passed from the Steve Todhunter Collection to the current owner in 2005. Retaining its fender tag, this 'Cuda is equipped with Chrysler's renowned A727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission and features 19 additional factory options, including the A32 Super Performance Package with Dana 60 Sure-Grip 4.10:1 rear end, power assist brakes with front discs, dual exhaust with chrome dual exhaust tips, a 26-inch radiator and Shaker fresh-air hood system. Exterior options include front and rear spoilers, left and right body-color racing mirrors, hood hold-down pins, roof drip moldings, wide sill moldings, belt and hood moldings, and body side moldings. Interior accoutrements include the Rallye instrument cluster with tachometer, bucket seats and console, plus an AM radio. Only an approximate 500 miles have been traveled since the restoration was completed and this collector-owned Six-Barrel 'Cuda comes with a new battery and fluid check, plus an original owner's manual. This fine example is one of just 853 automatic cars produced.
Restored during the mid-2000s and collector-owned since 2005. Powered by a 440ci Six-Barrel engine and TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Retains the Fender Tag and includes 19 factory options in addition to Code-FC7 paint and a black vinyl interior.
