Details
A true Pro-Touring Chevelle, this 1970 Chevelle custom coupe underwent a recent complete frame-off nut-and-bolt restoration and is a fine example of a well-executed Resto-Mod. The flush-mount AeroCatch hood pins and Ringbrothers billet hood hinges make opening the hood a breeze to showcase the brand-new built 402ci V8 big block-engine featuring aluminum heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake and Quick Fuel performance carburetor topped with a K&N high-performance air cleaner. Lighting the air and fuel
mixture is a Street Fire electronic ignition, and a serpentine belt system has been added for reliability along with a high-capacity radiator. Exhaust gases exit the engine via a set of ceramic-coated headers before passing through a 2.5-inch mandrel-bent dual exhaust with chrome tips. The potent powerplant is backed by a heavy-duty TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with 2200-2300 stall torque converter for added performance. The chassis has benefitted from upgraded suspension components as well. Beefier front and rear sway bars reduce body roll while Street Performance shocks and coil springs provide for a more stable ride. Tubular upper and lower A-arms add extra durability and enhance the front suspension geometry. Outside, the goal was to keep the car's body lines as close to original as possible, and this high-quality restoration spared no expense with subtle modifications, like powder-coated bumpers to match the body, SS badging, custom black LED headlights, smoked taillights, tinted windows and many premium billet parts. The white exterior is of a high-quality finish and accented by SS-style black stripes on both the hood and rear decklid. The Chevelle rides on brand-new tires with staggered 18- and 20-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels all stopping via Wilwood disc brakes with gloss black-painted calipers at all four corners. Inside, the goal was to keep the classic Chevelle look with brand-new SS-style interior and dash, but include all the modern upgrades, such as blue LED Dakota Digital gauges, custom billet SS steering wheel with quick-response power steering, Clayton Machine Works billet door handles and window cranks, air conditioning and billet pedals. The Classic Sounds stereo with Bluetooth and AUX is powered by a Rockford Fosgate amplifier and two 10-inch subwoofers, which is all showcased in the custom-built trunk. This well-executed Resto-Mod with only 1,800 miles since completion comes out of the personal collection of Barrett-Jackson Executive Vice President/General Manager Nick Cardinale.
