Description

Rebuilt and ready to roll, this 1956 Bel Air convertible displays clean bodywork that is highlighted by the correct Crocus Yellow and Onyx Black two-tone paint. The car's ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration, completed by renowned restorers Steinmetz Chevy Restorations, began with a full strip of a solid rust-free body. The craftsmen at Steinmetz then went to work on the Bel Air sheet metal, bringing it back to its factory original shape. Next, in typical '50s fashion, that profile was decked in feet of polished trim. At the front of this sleek showboat, a broad stainless grille frame travels end to end between the rechromed bumper, and a decorative Chevrolet crest and proper T3 headlights finish the look. At the top of the hood and fenders, rocket-inspired speed fender toppers lead the eye to a fresh wraparound greenhouse, which is sealed in straight frames, cleared by bright windshield wipers and reflected in highly polished trim. Gleaming door handles, bumperettes and chrome antenna complement the sleek body. And at the back of the Bel Air, a second rechromed bumper bends around a Chevrolet-branded trunk and familiar rear quarter-panels. Under the hood this Bel Air is equipped with a 265ci dual-quad V8 engine putting out 225hp routed through a Powerglide automatic transmission. This restored Chevy rolls down the road on Firestone gum-dipped whitewall tires with elegant wire wheel covers. From the Raser Collection.

Professionally restored and presented in Crocus Yellow and Onyx Black two-tone paint. Powered by a 265ci dual-quad V8 engine putting out 225hp mated to a Powerglide automatic transmission. From the Raser Collection.
