Details
The owner bought this 1990 Porsche 928 S4 in June 2018 from the transportation captain of the Paramount Network limited series 'Heathers' - it was the hero car used in the show. It is powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle and is finished in black over a black leather interior. Extensive mechanical work has been done over the last six years by 928 specialist Precision Motorwerks in Orange, CA, including rebuilding the timing belt tensioner. Components replaced included the lower control arms, front shocks, mass airflow sensor, oil cooler, fuel pressure regulator, accessory belts, spark plugs, radiator hoses, 14-pin wiring harness, power steering hose, steering rack boot and bushings, motor mounts, oil pan gasket, oxygen sensor, fuel lines, shift cable and boot, kick-down solenoid, transaxle mount, hoses, skid plate and underbody trays. The timing belt was replaced in 2016 by a former Porsche mechanic owner. The 16-inch wheels were powder-coated gold in 2019. The car has blemishes associated with a 33-year-old, 174,827 actual-mile automobile. Notably, the paint on the driver's side rub strip is peeling off. The rear bumper cover appears to have been repainted by a previous owner, though no accident damage appears to be visible. The right-side fog lamp functions but has a crack in the glass. The car received a color correction from a local professional detailer in May 2022. The original interior is typical of a car that spent the last 23 years in California, including worn and cracked leather on the steering wheel in places, a split in the bottom of the passenger seat and a few cracks in the dash over the passenger-side airbag. The instrument pod has two large cracks running down the top. The air-conditioning system was tested and doesn't appear to leak but needs to be filled with R12, which the owner will attempt to get done before the auction. The sunroof opens and closes slowly (the seller had left it closed during their ownership). The rear wiper doesn't return to its resting position. At its current mileage, the catalytic converter is original and will be due for replacement. Porsche imported 455 928 S4s for the model year. The owner has a parking plaque, some call sheets from the show, screen-matched stills and a service history going back to 1999. The sale includes a complete set of 1978-95 mechanic's manuals and a marketing guide. The car shows no accidents on CARFAX.
