Details
This custom four-wheel-drive 1972 GMC K1500 Sierra Grande factory short-bed pickup underwent a frame-off nut-and-bolt restoration in 2024 and has been driven 200 miles since the restoration. This pickup with a matching-numbers chassis and body is powered by a 350/350hp V8 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and an NP205 transfer case. The engine is cooled by duel electric fans from Old Air Products with an adjustable temperature control switch. The exterior is finished in GM 507 Light Blue and GM 2185 white, trimmed with new upper and lower moldings. The underside of the cab and bed are coated with color-matching light blue paint and lining. The front and rear inner fender wells are finished in gloss color-matching GM Light Blue. The chassis has been sandblasted and powder-coated in Gloss Black, along with numerous other parts throughout the undercarriage and engine compartment. The body, bed and all the body panels were removed, disassembled and sandblasted to bare metal and sealed for a true start to a new life. The suspension has a 4-inch lift with Rough Country premium shocks and steering stabilizer. Most, if not all, of the chassis bolts are upgraded to new grade-8 bolts. A new set of 17-inch KMC wheels and new BFGoodrich K03 mud terrain tires were installed for the stance. This pickup was equipped from the factory with air conditioning, but new modern air conditioning and heat by Old Air Products was installed for better performance. A tachometer, tilt steering, dual ratio steering box and power steering are part of the comfort features of this pickup. An American Autowire wiring harness and fuse block were installed throughout as another upgraded feature. The custom interior is covered in Relicate Overlander black and gray fabric on the heated seats and deluxe door panels, along with a black carpet, new headliner and dash pad. The interior cab and floor are insulated with Kilmat for a quiet ride. The items replaced or restored during the restoration process included the gauge cluster, tachometer, every nut and bolt, glass, rubber seals, felt, deluxe window trim, bumpers, chrome grille and shell, lights, all exterior and interior emblems and trim pieces, all wiring and connections and the Comfort Grip steering wheel. This pickup is a Grand National Truck Show trophy-winner and received multiple other show trophies during the 2024 show circuit.
