Details

This 1969 Kaiser M35A2 cargo truck, variant 1617, is fully restored with extensive upgrades and authentic touches, showcasing both historical accuracy and modern functionality. This M35A2 is powered by a Continental Motors LDT 465-1C, 478ci inline-6 turbocharged multifuel engine producing 134bhp and 330 ft/lbs of torque (447 N-m). The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and Rockwell 2-speed transfer case. This truck operates on diesel, kerosene, heating oil, or gasoline, in emergencies with added oil. The engine features an onboard compressor for the brake and power steering systems and the iconic "Whistler" 3LJ319 turbocharger, known for its distinctive sound, along with a 60-amp alternator. This medium-duty vehicle reaches a top speed of 56 mph (90 kmh), with a cruising speed around 48 mph (77 kmh). Fuel economy averages 11 mpg highway (4.7 kml) and 8 mpg city (3.4 kml), with an estimated 400- to 500-mile range (643.7-804.7 km) on a 50-gallon fuel tank (190 liter). This truck is equipped with a 10,000-pound (4,536 kg) Garwood PTO-driven front winch, air-assisted hydraulic brakes and pneumatic power steering. The 18-month frame-up restoration was completed in 2013 by a seasoned military vehicle restorer based in Phoenix, AZ. It included a Rhino-lined cab and bed floors for durability, LED taillights, spin-on oil filters for cleaner maintenance and a hidden battery cutoff switch for added security. The knuckle boots were upgraded from stock rubber to Rockwell silicone in 2020. This vehicle has been stored in a garage since 2016 and only taken out for parades, shows and special events. This truck is 112 inches tall (284 cm), 96 inches wide (244 cm) and 277 inches long (704 cm), and it weighs 13,530 pounds empty (6,137 kg). The cab is complemented by a metal hardtop and the standard 8x12-foot (244-by-366 cm) cargo bed that has a three-piece canvas top, currently not mounted due to a torn grommet. This M35A2 has a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds off-road (2,722 kg) and 10,000 pounds on-road (4,536 kg). The 10-wheel dual-tandem rear axle setup is fitted with 20x9-inch tires on split-rim wheels. The air-assisted hydraulic brakes with a driveline parking brake ensure safe handling even on challenging terrain. Gladhand connectors on the rear allow for trailer hookup, offering full air service and emergency brakes for additional vehicles. With a GVWR under 26,001 pounds, it can be driven without a commercial driver's license in most states. Accessories include a 30-foot air hose (914 cm) with a tire gauge and glad hand, a 10-ton snatch block (9,072 kg) and a Rhino HD tire gauge. The sale also includes numerous spare parts, such as oil filters and axle seals, two 6-ton jack stands (5,443 kg), 350 ft/lbs torque wrench (475 N-m), hub nut socket, full technical manuals and all restoration photos on a CD, providing a complete history and technical reference for future owners. This truck has won multiple awards, including Steel Soldiers MV of the Year 2016, Arizona Historical Military Transport Association's Best Heavy Vehicle in 2018 and Arizona Military Vehicle Collectors Club Best in Class in 2017, 2019 and 2022, and President's Choice Award in 2023.
