Details
This custom 1969 Dodge Daytona was a multi-year project with the objective of producing a car as close to factory original as possible while incorporating modern performance upgrades. It is believed to be one of just three remaining in silver with a black tail stripe. It is upgraded to a 542ci second-generation HEMI producing 631hp at 5,800 rpm, paired with an upgraded manual transmission, which delivers the power to a Dana 60-series axle with 4.10 gears. The engine was balanced to racing specifications and features advanced components like Molnar Stroker crank, Diamond pistons, H-beam rods and a custom hydraulic camshaft, all contributing to its output. The suspension enhancements include fast ratio steering, UMI A-arms, Bilstein gas shocks, Cal-Trac traction bars and Hotchkis suspension, lowering the front by 2 inches and rear by 1 inch. The brakes were upgraded to 4-wheel SSBC disc brakes with ceramic pads. This Daytona is finished in its original A4 Silver Metallic. Matching the wing color, it features a new black interior, including a 4-speed console added when the transmission was updated, along with a Vintage Air system with a new vented dash. The interior still has the original OEM look, as well as the rare NASCAR-inspired aero pieces delivered on every Daytona model. This car rides on custom-made 17-inch replicas of factory Magnum 500-style road wheels done in billet and wearing Nitto NT555 G2 tires. This Daytona was a homologation special, created only to legalize their aerodynamic shapes for NASCAR competition. This vehicle had a scheduled production date of June 6, 1969, at the Hamtramck, MI, assembly plant and was then shipped to Creative Industries in Detroit to be finished, where it was fitted with an aerodynamic nose cone, cast-aluminum 58-inch-wide rear wing, and rear flush-mount rear window. The restoration was completed by automotive specialists Troy Angelly & T/A Restorations of Eldorado, IL. The final assembly was completed by US-12 Speed & Custom of New Buffalo, MI, who were responsible for putting the car together with meticulous care. The total estimated cost for the project was $650,000. This vehicle is on the Daytona Registry master list and is in the MMC Detroit Global vehicle registry. The sale includes an Elite Wise Validation Report, original Trim Tag and Broadcast Sheet.
