Details

This 1965 Sunbeam Tiger is a re-creation of what was seen in the "Get Smart" television series that aired from 1965 to 1970. The visors are autographed by Don Adams, who played Maxwell Smart, and Barbara Feldon, who played Agent 99. When NBC-TV's "Get Smart" first aired on September 18, 1965, it hilariously poked fun at the Cold War-fuelled, spy-drama trend dominating film and television at the time. Created by comic geniuses Mel Brooks and Buck Henry at the urging of film producer and studio executive Daniel Melnick, "Get Smart" starred Don Adams as the bumbling but lovable Agent 86, Barbara Feldon as the smart and skilled Agent 99 and Edward Platt as the constantly beleaguered Chief. Combining the Q-Branch gadgetry of James Bond and the physical comedy of Inspector Clouseau as portrayed by Peter Sellers, "Get Smart" pitted the good guys from CONTROL against the hilariously evil international crime and terror syndicate, KAOS. In addition to many comically delivered catchphrases uttered by Adams' Agent 86, his opening and closing sequences through many huge doors remain physical comedy masterpieces today. While the TV series wrapped on May 15, 1970, on CBS, the "Get Smart" franchise would live on in the hearts and minds of millions of die-hard fans worldwide and become the subject of three feature movies long after the TV series wrapped, in 1980, 1989 and 2008. Featuring 260ci Ford V8 power, this 1965 Sunbeam Tiger is a wonderful tribute to the original "Get Smart" TV car. Longtime Hollywood movie editor and enthusiastic "Get Smart" superfan Susan Kesler formerly owned this Tiger, and it is understood that under her ownership, the hood was modified and fitted with a prop Gatling gun, emulating that of the TV car that remains indelibly burned into the collective memories of millions of TV show and movie viewers. In 2012, Dr. Berkowitz purchased the car from Ms. Kesler, with assistance from her son. In addition to a spare wheel/tire inside the trunk, this highly collectible piece of automotive fame and movie fandom is ready to collect, show, and enjoy as desired. From The Dr. Stewart A. Berkowitz Collection. **TITLED AS 1965 SUNB ALPINE**
