Powered by 390/300hp V8 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. Has power-operated white top, white bucket seats, air conditioning and AM/FM radio. AACA Senior National Award winner. From The Gilstrap Collection.

Details

This restored 1965 Ford Thunderbird convertible is presented in factory-correct, award-winning condition and is powered by a Z-code FE-Series V8 engine displacing 390ci and producing a factory-rated 300hp with a correct rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor and recent dual-exhaust system, backed by a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes with front discs, power antenna, tinted glass and backup lights. Sporting a comprehensive restoration, this Thunderbird is finished in its originally specified Vintage Burgundy paint color, complemented by a power-operated white convertible top. Accurately replicating a factory option, the Thunderbird rides on correct steel wheels with full wheel covers and a new set of whitewall tires with red sidewall accent stripes. The new Pearl White interior compartment features aircraft-inspired controls, a center console and front bucket seats, with power adjustment to the driver's seat and a power recline function for the passenger. The interior also features a tilt-away steering column, Select Air climate control with power vents, and an AM/FM radio with Studio Sonic rear speaker. Some innovations intended for this Thunderbird were delayed, only reaching Ford's Wixom, MI, Thunderbird assembly plant in time for 1965-model production, including standard front disc brakes and sequential rear turn-signal lights. This 1965 Ford Thunderbird convertible is an award-winning example with an AACA Senior National First Prize to its credit since 2008 (AACA Badge No. W34053). The sale includes a battery tender and one key, as well as documents that include the original invoice, original and reproduction owner's manuals, restoration receipts, service records and AACA awards. From The Gilstrap Collection.
