Details
Nicknamed "LA Hennessey," this custom 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS lowrider was the recipient of a complete frame-off restoration by Culver Customs in Louisville, KY. This '64 also got a full makeover by Kenny Ochs, also in Louisville, and is powered by a 327ci V8 engine that was removed and rebuilt, with everything chromed and painted to match, and a 750 cfm Holley carburetor was also installed. Power is backed by a Turbo 350 transmission that has a shift kit. A custom fan shroud handmade out of aluminum was bolted in as well. Chad "Mr. Hardline" Ferman from Hamilton, OH, installed a one-of-a-kind hydraulic setup using two Pitbull hydraulic pumps with a custom-made aluminum whammy tank. Four Super Duty Adex dumps were mounted using shaped hard lines. Zig-zag slow-down valves and custom dump caps were put in place. The hydraulic setup has hard lines running to the front 8-inch Pitbull cylinder and the rear 12-inch cylinders. The car lifts from a 4-switch panel mounted on the dashboard. The setup has no visible hoses, while eight Group 31 batteries line the sides of the trunk. Josh and Harry Culver of Culver Customs removed the frame off the body and prepped it for coating. The frame and body were reinforced and wrapped for strength and in the paint booth, layers of Mandarin Copper were sprayed throughout the entire frame. This Impala was taken apart and fully wrapped for support, along with a Ford 9-inch rear end that was added for more support. The Impala's body was straightened, blocked and sprayed with Sherwin-Williams Mandarin Copper and cleared with Sherwin-Williams clearcoat. Josh Culver and Brian Papa of Papa Studios in Atlanta, GA, did the gold leafing and pinstripe work as well. The dashboard and gauges were also removed and painted to match with matching pinstriping throughout, and the frame is also painted to match with matching pinstriping and chrome everywhere. This Impala rides on custom-built 13x7-inch 100-spoke OG wire wheels, with chrome stripped and color-matched with gold leafing. The interior features a Clarion head unit mounted in the glove compartment with Eminence components throughout the cabin. Two 12-inch Eclipse subwoofers were added to a custom enclosure with a plexiglass window, designed and built by Spade Kreations in Cincinnati, OH. Two Audiobahn amplifiers power the stereo system, completed by Tim Phelps of Brooks, KY. In October 2024, the car received a refresh totaling over $9,000, including new chrome reinforced control arms and bushings, nine new batteries, new chrome hydraulic pump motor and alternator, all solenoids, switches and wiring were replaced, and the carburetor was rebuilt.
