Details
This custom 1961 Chevrolet C10 crew-cab long-bed pickup was a five-year frame-off nut-and-bolt build built by Stageway and debuted at SEMA 2019. The chassis was fully boxed and cradled with a frame stiffener to handle the torque and horsepower from the 6.6-liter Duramax LBZ diesel engine and Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine features a 64mm Garrett turbo with nine-blade billet wheel sending exhaust through a downpipe leading to a four-inch stainless-steel pipe and bedside tip. All intake, turbo and water piping were fabricated and painted. The engine was blasted and painted with marine-grade black paint. All AN fittings and tubing used were applicable. For the chassis, a Porterbuilt dropmember and rear trailing arm kit are connected to a massive semi-float 14-bolt posi-traction axle. Hydro-boost with a Wilwood master cylinder stops the Baer 6-piston front brakes and 4-piston rear. The engine features an all-aluminum four-core radiator with dual Spal fans, along with a Derale transmission and oil coolers with a fan. It is equipped with a frame-mounted AirDog 165-gph diesel lift pump with dual filters with Amsoil dual oil filter assembly. The body was completely stripped to bare metal and any rust was removed and replaced with new. All body seams on the hood and raised wood bed were welded smooth, the hardware and bumpers were shaved with a rear roll pan, and the panels and bumpers have been fitted. It was finished with a PPG-modified Olive Drab paint and other materials used to create a smooth wet look with three coats of paint and six of clear. The frame and all chassis parts were dipped, then powder-coated Satin Black. At reassembly, the cab floor was sprayed with LizardSkin for heat and sound, then sound-deadener applied. The bottom of cab was sprayed with a textured rubberized undercoating. Front and rear Firestone/Slam air bags controlled by AccuAir E-level self-adjusting system with dual Viair compressor and dual 5-gallon air tanks. The cab features all-new green tint glass with Precision replacement gaskets. It rides on American Racing wheels with BFGoodrich tires. The fully customized interior retains its original styling, including a pair of TMI seats reupholstered with Relicate Caramel leather and suede headliner, door pulls, visors and fabricated console. Classic Instruments gauges fill the dash, and heat is provided by a Vintage Air system. A head-up Edge Insight monitor lets you know what the engine is doing, along with a five-setting DSP switch for added power with an Idaho Rob tune.
