Details
This custom 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is powered by a Weiand 8-71 supercharged big-block 468ci V8 engine paired with a rebuilt GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. This all-steel Pro-Street coupe was the recipient of a no-expense-spared full custom nut-and-bolt build that features a handcrafted engine compartment and is equipped with a Weiand 8-71 supercharger and blower case with a Holley Dominator EFI ECU with harness and injectors generating approximately 800hp. The custom valve covers were designed one-off and machined to give the billet emblems a floating effect over the fins that mimic the look of the blower. The engine bay has been detailed and the engine is framed by hand-fabricated aluminum panels. The underside is fully molded and has a smooth front suspension with a Bel Air hood emblem frenched into the front crossmember that leads into a full design study incorporating the exhaust and belly panels. The exhaust is fully polished and exits at the rear through hand-fabricated custom exhaust tips that fit into the rear bumper. The chassis features a front suspension with custom tubular control arms and JRi coilovers. The rear suspension features a custom back-half frame clip, 4-link system and Panhard bar with JRi coilovers. It is also equipped with a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.90 gears and a limited-slip differential. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood rotors (14-inch front and 12-inch rear) with 4-piston calipers. It rides on Schott Accelerator wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires. The exterior features a custom Dusold Designs finish with a black basecoat and custom-mixed Satin Pear/Terracotta two-tone paint, along with a custom hood by Dusold Designs and custom pinched and fitted bumpers with integral exhaust. No expense was spared on the interior, which features Corbeau seats and upholstery that has custom-dyed leather to match the exterior paint and cloud material by Compton Custom Interiors. It also features air conditioning, heat, a Bel Air-style 15-inch steering wheel, custom 1962 Cadillac door panels with chromed stainless-steel trim, custom black wool and a Lokar shifter. The air-conditioning vents are hidden in the mesh panel under the dash to keep clutter to a minimum. The center console is hand-built from aluminum with a '50s jet vibe as a detail on the rear. The rear seat area was a real design challenge with the giant wheel tubs, but when in the car, it fits and looks natural, keeping with the theme of the vehicle. This example was featured in World of Wheels and MotorTrend.
