Description
This two-owner custom 1972 GMC Suburban was purchased from the original owner's estate in 2016. The restoration started in 2019 and was completed in 2021. Under the hood is a GM 350ci V8 crate engine that was built up to a stroked 383ci V8 engine. It was tuned and broken in on the dyno with a dyno sheet and full description of all parts and pieces in the engine, as well as the work done to the engine to get 425hp. The original radiator was replaced with a custom-built 5-core system to support the new engine and OE front and rear air conditioning. The build concept was to keep as much of the original truck intact as possible, using OEM parts wherever possible. The whole suspension is new, including re-arched springs assembled with neoprene bushings to create a smoother, quieter ride and give the rig more stability. The shocks are Bilstein and all of the steering linkage is new and made to fit the lift. The truck has 305/LT235R-18 Nitto Dura Grapplers (35 inches tall) mounted on GMC 18-inch wheels from a 2018 Denali. A custom-built 40-gallon aluminum fuel tank was mounted in the original position. A 3.5-inch single-pipe exhaust was built to fit in and up out of the way, then exit out the driver's side rear. Everything underneath the truck is new. The transmission and torque converter were programmed to maximize the power curve of the engine. The body was stripped, then marine-sealed and metal-caulked all the joints on the underbody, as well as the cab interior. The truck was originally ordered in Hugger Orange and white, and it was repainted to match those specifications. The factory hood was replaced with a custom unit, and the grille - as well as all the moldings - were replaced. The wheels are from a newer GM 3/4-ton pickup and a swing-away spare tire carrier was added. The rear decking, door panels and door rests were retained, along with the original seat bodies, which were recovered with Cadillac Seville inserts to match the original headliner. The original wood grain on the glove box and the wood-grain gauge bezel were replaced to match the originals. The stereo system in the Suburban is an oldie look-alike that has all the new technology. Dynamat sound insulation was installed throughout the interior before assembly, including the floor, the walls and the inside of the doors. The original Protect-O-Plate, dyno-sheet and engine build documents come with the sale.
Powered by a dyno-tuned 383ci V8 stroker engine with Edelbrock intake and TH350 automatic transmission. Fully restored in Hugger Orange with white exterior, air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, all-new suspension and drivetrain components.
