Details
This custom Electro-Mod 1966 Pontiac GTO AE250e convertible is powered by a Tesla 50 KWHR motor secured by the original engine and transmission mounts. The frame was reinforced, and the original chassis was modified to accommodate a Tesla Model 3 Performance rear subframe, including a 350hp electric motor and 5-link independent suspension fitted with Tesla high-performance disc brakes and four adjustable QA1 shock absorbers. Wilwood 4-piston brakes were installed up front and Tesla's single-piston disc brakes were kept in the back. It also contains the electronic components for recharging and managing the battery and motor. Other components include a Dodge electric power steering pump supplying power to the original steering box and to a GM hydro-boost system paired with a Wilwood master cylinder. Top-quality parts from Dynacorn and Golden Leaf were used to replace 75% of the sheet metal. The quarter-panels, wings, doors, hood, firewall and floor are all new. Next, the shipping primer stripped off and two coats of RM epoxy primer were applied. After making a few minor corrections to the polyester, three coats of RM urethane primer were applied, as well as two coats of RM water-based topcoat in Porsche Carbon Steel Gray Metallic (A9W) and three coats of RMC2000 clearcoat. The frame has the same paint finish as the body. All the GTO's chrome components are original, but the bumpers and some other parts have been professionally chromed. The stainless-steel trim was carefully removed and polished to a mirror finish. New windows were added with a gray tint to match the body color. The lighting was converted to LED, including ORACLE sealed-beam headlamps with halo lights and taillight sequencers. The GTO AE250e convertible has a superior-quality black canvas top fitted with real, professionally installed glass. To complete the look, magnificent 18-inch American Racing Rally-style wheels are wrapped in Diamond Back EVO tires, which were chosen by Carl Andre Giroux, the designer behind this GTO. The Portala Red interior was fully restored, and the benches are covered with top-of-the-line fabric. The original console was modified so the shifter could be replaced with a digital tablet used for gear changes. There are another two digital tablets creating a cluster on the dashboard, allowing access to the vehicle settings. A 400-volt GM water heater provides warm air for the cab, while a Tesla air-conditioning compressor simultaneously cools the battery, engine and cab as needed. The entire electrical wiring system was custom-designed by world-renowned INGENEXT and manufactured by their team. To get the highest quality sound, Fortin Audio in Montreal selected a BLAM Audio system controlled by a vintage RetroSound radio and Helix amplifiers. The trunk was completely redesigned to accommodate part of the sound system and to match the car's red interior. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
