Details

This stunning custom 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is packing a fuel-injected 427 V8 engine with a TKO 5-speed manual transmission. As the NCRS Shipping Data Report indicates, the GM Official Production Date was December 28, 1965. The original delivery dealer was Ammon Smith Auto in York, PA. The car spent its entire life in York, PA, and was taken off the road in late 1970s. From the information gathered, it was an original 427/425hp L72 car with side pipes. In March 2021, it was

resurrected and the product of a meticulous body-off restoration. The plan was to create a car similar to the way GM built it, with some discreet upgrades that would appeal to the C2 enthusiast who doesn't want a Resto-Mod. The plan came to fruition, resulting in a masterpiece. The beautifully designed body is equipped with a big-block hood. The body was stripped to bare glass and countless hours were invested making it very straight. It was repainted in the factory-correct color of Laguna Blue, which is stunning. All Deltron and Vibrance PPG products were used throughout. The high-quality paint was recently detailed to a glossy finish. It has a new white vinyl top that fits like a glove. It's one of only 8,463 equipped with a factory auxiliary hardtop for the model year 1966. The painted hardtop comes with a new hardtop stand for display or storage purposes. The front windshield and side glass was replaced new. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced, including the glass trim, wiper arms, driver's-side mirror, power antenna, emblems, and front and rear bumpers. The car was outfitted with new custom-made Rocket Attack 18-inch brushed wheels with Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires. The exterior is complemented by a matching new blue interior with Al Knoch upholstery. The blue dash with black fascia, gauges and glovebox looks great. Some custom features include a new Lectric Limited wiring harness, electronic tachometer conversion, console with custom shift pattern plate and black-carpeted floor mats. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout, with many new parts. The back side of the hood, firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were repainted in Satin Black. The car is powered by an original 427/425hp L72 V8 engine with Holly Sniper fuel injection. The engine was rebuilt with SCAT rods, Speed Pro pistons, solid lifters with EDm oiling and Nostalgia LS6+ comp cam. The matching cylinder heads were reconditioned with hardened seats and stainless valves. The compression was reduced to 10.5:1 so it's pump-gas friendly. The engine is cooled with a FlowKooler water pump and DeWitts black aluminum radiator. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and new Hi-Flow side-exhaust pipes. The engine is coupled to a new Silver Sport TREMEC TKO 5-speed close-ratio manual transmission with a McLeod clutch. The power is transferred to the original FB rear end with 4.11 gears, which was completely rebuilt. It was set up with a custom Borgeson power steering system that works excellent. The undercarriage is highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The original chassis was sand-blasted, epoxy-primed and painted Satin Black. It was set up with a Van Steel coilover conversion system for the front and rear suspension, which also includes tubular upper and lower control arms, big sway bars and offset trailering arms. It's equipped with a Wilwood 4-wheel disc braking system with custom master cylinder, 13-inch rotors, 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers. This car was recently serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that's included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
