This custom 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS was built from the ground up by Jim McKay at Lakeside Speed and Shine in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Powered by a 500hp 5.7-liter LS engine from Turnkey Motors with a Magnuson supercharger, mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. It is equipped with an aluminum radiator by Champion, custom-fabricated aluminum valve covers, TCI stainless headers and a full custom-fabricated exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers. This car rides on a TCI M2 sub-frame
featuring Ride Tech Shockwaves up front, power rack & pinion steering, TCI 4-link suspension with Ride Tech Shockwaves in the rear, Wilwood 4-wheel power brakes (13-inch rotors with 4-piston calipers on the rear and 6-piston calipers up front), custom polished fuel cell, inland driveline and a Currie 9-inch rear end. With the AccuAir E-level system, the stance can be adjusted for any situation. It is sitting on Budnik Gasser aluminum wheels (20-inch on the back and 19-inch up front) with the valve stems mounted on the inside. Under the hood is a detailed engine bay with lots of custom sheet metal fabrication, including a smoothed firewall, CPP aluminum inner fenders, custom wiring stainless steel plumbing, and TCI adjustable down bars. The body work on this car is meticulous and is finished in a BMW Alpine White (all body moldings, stainless trim and fuel door were removed). It has recessed Kindig-It door handles, new glass all the way around, the bumpers are all shaved and custom-fit and the rear was mini-tubbed. The Maserati Rosso Italian leather bucket-seat interior features Mercedes black accents and custom black Alcantara headliner, along with black German square-weave wool carpet. It features a full custom sound system, IPAD Mini control system, Lokar/HGM paddle shifter on the Budnick leather-wrapped steering wheel, Lexus leather electric bucket seats customized with matching door panels accented by Pewter and Mercedes black accents, a body-colored dash, a full set of new Dakota Digital gauges, power windows and a Vintage Air system with stock controls. The trunk matches the interior, hiding the sound system and battery well; only exposing the custom polished aluminum fuel neck. It was finished in 2019 with 850 miles on the build. This Nova II took Second Place at its debut at the Los Angeles, CA, Roadster Show 2020 and will be featured on the All Chevy magazine cover in early 2024.
