Description
This stunner was originally a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, then was customized as a Grand Sport re-creation with meticulous attention to replicating the original. Only the original body and dash were used in the conversion; all other parts are new. A copy of the original mandrel-built tube frame using an exact jig was used to form the frame platform for this car. A modern aluminum Corvette suspension, Currie Ford 9-inch rear end with 4-link suspension and independent axles, 3.90 ratio gearing and new Wilwood disc brakes round out the foundation. It is powered by a completely new 502ci crate engine rated at 502hp and 567 ft/lbs of torque. The engine includes JE pistons, aluminum heads, a 850cfm Holley carburetor and aluminum manifold, McLeod aluminum flywheel, RST double-disc clutch, hydraulic throw-out bearing and a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission. The exhaust runs through a set of Sanderson headers and out through a set of Corvette side pipes. Grand Sport body modifications are grafted to the 1965 Corvette body, including a big-block Daytona vented hood for added cooling. The body is coated with multiple coats of House of Kolor epoxy primer, then block-sanded to perfection. House of Kolor Ultra Orange Pearl was applied after a white basecoat, followed by four coats of hard clear and three coats of soft clear, with sanding in between. The stripes are flat white and flat silver and finished with flat clear. In the interior, the original dash, gauge components and door panels were restored using black Connolly leather. All gauges and the glove box door were restored by Roger's Corvette Clocks. Vintage Air provides the heating and cooling, assisted by their front-runner serpentine drive system, and all inside controls have been converted to Vintage Air. Electric seats are from a 1998 Corvette and modified to correct heights to replicate the 1965 period look and are wrapped in leather, as are all other interior components. Black Silver Knot carpet is on the floor. A billet aluminum adjustable steering column is mated to a MOMO Racing steering wheel. Headlight motors have been converted to new electric units, and headlights are new H4 lights. The wheels are BBS magnesium 3-piece race wheels with 18x9.5 in the front and 18x12 rears. New Toyo Proxes tires are on all four corners (275/35ZR-18 in the front and 335/30ZR-18 in the rear). The total weight of the car is 2,874 pounds, and it is perfectly corner-balanced. The car has approximately 500 miles on it since completion, including its shake-down period. **TITLED AS 1965 CHEVROLET SPECON** **SOLD ON BONDED TITLE** **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
