Description
This custom 1965 MG MGB convertible's greatly increased power and performance are delivered by a 2019 Mazda 2.5-liter 4-cylinder aluminum engine, equipped with a billet crank and rods, forged pistons and a solid-lifter, with a variable-timing valvetrain. Omex engine management and 50mm 'direct-to-head' valve bodies maximize power delivery to a 2019 Mazda 6-speed manual gearbox with an aluminum housing and final drive via a 3.7:1 limited-slip differential. Fully upgraded underpinnings include tubular upper front wishbones, adjustable shocks, a custom 6-link rear setup and 4-wheel disc brakes. Custom bolt-on wheels, evoking the Lotus of Bond movie fame, feature gold spokes and polished rims, mounting 6-inch front and 7-inch rear Avon tires. The MGB cockpit features custom-fitted, hand-formed seats luxuriously trimmed in Arctic White Prima Nappa leather with matching stitchwork. Occupants are greeted by a rich wood-veneer dash in high-gloss American Burr Walnut, equipped with a full array of gold-face instruments. Other highlights include a leather dash pad, black carpets with leather edging, Arctic White door panels, a quick-release Nardi steering wheel with black spokes and matching leather rim, power windows and black seat belts with chrome aircraft-type buckles. Entertainment is delivered by a complete, high-end JL Audio system. Expertly restored, updated and upgraded with cost no object, this fabulous early MGB seamlessly combines iconic early presence with today's modern performance technologies, bespoke details and luxury far beyond original specifications. Accompanying this vehicle is a copy of the California registration document issued to entertainment icon Simon Cowell and a full listing of restoration specifications from Frontline Developments. The MGB remains Britain's most successful sports car ever produced, and it comes as no surprise that Simon Cowell, of 'America's Got Talent' renown, would own a professionally restored and upgraded 'Chrome Bumper' example. Totally reimagined by the U.K. marque specialists at Frontline Developments, the MGB started life as a long-term, California-registered car that now sports a brand-new, period-correct bodyshell, finished in Lotus Copper Bronze and gold graphics inspired by 007's Lotus Esprit from the 1981 James Bond epic, 'For Your Eyes Only.'
Restoration and build for entertainment icon Simon Cowell by Frontline Developments. Featuring a high-performance Mazda drivetrain, bespoke custom interior, JL Audio system and cosmetics evoking 007's car from 'For Your Eyes Only.'
