ALAN JARDINE'S 1971 PLYMOUTH HEMI 'CUDA RE-CREATION

This 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda re-creation is powered by a dual 4-barrel correct 426ci HEMI engine. This car was owned by famous musician Alan Jardine, co-founder of the Beach Boys. The car was professionally built for him around 2009. The new/present owner drove the car until he decided to completely refurbish the drivetrain. A Colorado company with a lot of Chrysler performance knowledge was hired to carry out the job. Lanier's Speed Shop started the task with a complete teardown of the 426 HEMI.

The engine was in overall good condition, just worn out. A complete rebuild was completed that included a new Ohio Crankshaft rotating assembly with a 4340 forged stroker crank creating 477ci, consisting of H-beam rods with ARP bolts and Keith Black total compression pistons. It is equipped with all-new stainless valves, 1.57 roller rockers, CC-matched chambered cylinder heads and a Schneider Racing camshaft, resulting in a Superflow dyno of 494.3 hp at 5,000 rpm and 570.7 ft/lbs of torque at 4,000 (four run sheets included). The original 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission was gone through. The stock 8.75-inch rear end was gone through with 3.23:1 ratio gears. The exhaust is a dual 2.5-inch system with Flowmaster mufflers. The power-assisted brakes were upgraded to a complete Wilwood Dynalite big-brake system (four wheels). The car has factory power steering. Custom-built Budnick 18-inch CNC machined wheels, 18x8 front and 18x10 rear, were added. The car has a Plum Crazy base coat/clear coat paint job with white HEMI Billboard stripes. A Shaker hood tops the killer HEMI, now 477ci. The interior includes white vinyl seats, black door panels and carpeting. The cabin includes wood-grain trim, center console, AM radio and a 3-spoke steering wheel. The trunk includes the correct space-saver spare and jack. The car has less than 500 miles since it was refurbished.
