Details
This custom 1982 Porsche 911 SC started life as a standard 1982 911 SC Targa, but has been comprehensively modified utilizing all factory parts and turned into a Cabriolet with a full M491 package. M491 was the Porsche factory designation for a turbo-look car - indistinguishable from a 930 outside of the badge on the back - and wasn't officially available from Porsche until 1985. Wanting to create their own rendition, a previous owner utilized original 930 Turbo front and rear fenders and rear spoiler, giving this car all the looks of a 930, but with a powerful, naturally aspirated engine. Originally powered by a 3.0-liter flat-6 engine, this car was upgraded to a 3.2-liter case engine, which has been bored out to 3.5 liters with 100mm Mahle pistons. This new engine is mated to a 5-speed 915 series gearbox, which has been fitted with a ZF limited-slip differential. The ignition system was upgraded to a twin-plug setup with Electromotive crank fire ignition for greater ease in tuning. A backdated exhaust with 1974-style stainless-steel mufflers was added and SSI heat exchangers were installed as well. The 911 sits on a set of 930-sized Fuchs wheels, 7 inches wide in front and 9 inches wide in the rear, filling out the new wider fenders nicely. A newer convertible top is in place and, after the body modifications, the car was repainted in its original shade of Zinn Silver. Less than 1,000 miles ago a full major service was completed that included all fluids, a valve adjustment and new plugs. At this time, a compression and leakdown test was performed, which showed compression at 170-175 psi across all cylinders and the leakdown showed 6-8%. Inside, 930 Turbo sport seats have been installed and are upholstered in black leather with the heated seat option. The steering wheel has been upgraded to a 3-spoke 930 Turbo S wheel, which is leather-wrapped and a common upgrade over the standard wheel in G-body 911s. This 911 was sold new in Seattle, WA, and has remained in the area its entire life. This car comes with a clean CARFAX, its original books and owner's manual. With 30,029 miles (title reads exempt).
