Details

Offered from the last model year for the popular Mach 1 option, this Grabber Blue 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback was built at Ford's Dearborn, MI, factory and equipped with a rare H-code 2-barrel 351ci Cleveland engine, which is upgraded with a 4-barrel carburetor and monitored by an added Sunpro 3-gauge cluster, all mated to an automatic transmission. It features a Philco AM radio, power front disc brakes, power steering, a NACA-ducted Ram Air hood, the optional Sports interior and Sport

Deck fold-down rear seat, plus color-keyed mirrors, tinted glass, a chin spoiler and Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Flat black Mach 1 graphics complete the car. Benefiting from single ownership and care for the past 19 years. The final Mustang generation influenced by 'Bunkie' Knudsen, the legendary former GM executive, the 1971-73 Mustang was the ultimate expression of Ford Motor Company's original sporty pony car. The largest Mustang up to that point, it was enlarged to meet buyer demand for more luxury options, larger big-block performance engines and demand from Ford dealers for easier servicing. The wheelbase was increased by 1 inch to 109 inches and, despite their larger visual presence, the 1971-73 cars were only marginally larger than their predecessors. Styling was bold, distinctive and European GT-influenced with a broad grille, wraparound 1969-70 Shelby GT-style front bumper and long, wide hood. The fastback 'Sportsroof' featured a nearly flat roofline, sloping below horizontal by 14 degrees. Interiors featured a twin-cove dash with deeply recessed instruments, plus a prominent center stack housing the radio and climate controls. Updates for 1972 and 1973 were mainly detail-oriented, including color-keyed front bumpers and new nameplate scripts for 1972. For 1973, revisions included a new grille insert, framed headlamps and upright parking lamps. Most notably, power choices were streamlined to include an inline-6, plus 302ci and 351ci V8 engines, with the latter available in 2- or 4-barrel tune.
