Details
This custom 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle is one of only 16 cars built by Nelson Racing Engines. It is powered by an all-aluminum 509ci big-block Chevrolet V8 engine mated to a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission, with a Wenco Super Duty driveshaft and a Moser 9-inch rear end with 35-spline axles. The engine is equipped with twin injectors per cylinder, twin air-to-air intercoolers, 60-tooth crank trigger ignition with coil packs, Electromotive fuel management, a full stainless-steel exhaust and
a twin-core all-aluminum Ron Davis radiator with dual 16-inch SPAL fans. All radiator lines were custom-fabricated out of 6061 aluminum-tube TIG-welded twin transmission coolers with fans. The drive system consists of a March mid-mount billet pulley and bracket system with an Edelbrock aluminum water pump, high-amp alternator and March power-steering pump. It has a Mike's Powerglide Super Duty transmission rated at 2,000hp with Gear Vendors overdrive and a Winters shifter. The car rides on Global West upper and lower control arms with ATS forged spindles, a quick-ratio steering box, Chris Alston 4-link rear suspension, billet rear upper control arms, billet sway bar links, a Hotchkis front sway bar, all large solid Heim joints and QA1 shocks. Hiding behind a set of Bonspeed billet wheels are Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners, with 6-piston calipers in the front; the rear disc brakes have an emergency brake built into them. This Chevelle is equipped with an adjustable proportioning valve accessible from the front interior, a Hydro-Boost brake system, and everything is plumbed in, stainless-steel hard-lined or stainless-steel braided. The upholstery was done by Eric Thorsen, and it has Kirkey Racing seats with custom slides built into the seat to accommodate different leg lengths. It is equipped with 5-way cam lock racing harnesses, German carpet, a one-piece headliner, power windows, a tilt and telescoping steering column, a Lecarra steering wheel and a new dash pad, and all four door panels are finished in black on black. This Chevelle features a Halon fire-suppression system with nozzles in the engine bay, and the interior is fully hard-lined with stainless-steel tubing. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
